Land Rover Defender: Oil Pump - Ingenium I4 2.0l Petrol
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTES:

removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Remove the oil pump chain.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

- Release the wiring harness from the clip.
- Release the electrical connector clip.
- Reposition the electrical connector away from the cylinder block.

- Release the wiring harness from the 2 clips.
- Remove the oil pump intake pipe bolt.
- Remove the 4 oil pump bolts.
- Remove the oil pump.

Inspect the seal and replace if damaged or worn.

NOTE:
Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the oil pump inlet pipe.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
This step is only required if previously removed.
- Install the oil pump inlet pipe.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 12Nm
2.
- Install the oil pump.
- Install and tighten the 4 oil pump bolts.
Torque: 25Nm
3.
- Install and tighten the oil pump intake pipe bolt.
Torque: 12Nm
- Install the wiring harness to the 4 clips.
- Connect the electrical connector.
4. Install the oil pump chain.
5. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

Diagnosis by substitution from a donor vehicle is NOT acceptable. Substitution

NOTES:
RHD vehicle is shown, LHD vehicle is similar.
Vehicle with 5 doors is shown, vehicle with 3 doors is similar.
The RCM is located under the floor console and controls the operation of the
SRS. The RCM receives an ignition feed
from the Body Control Module (BCM)/ Gateway Control Modul
