Land Rover Defender: Steering Wheel Switch
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:

right side components are similar.
1. Make the airbag Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) safe.
2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
3. Remove the driver airbag module.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the horn switch.

- Remove the bolt.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the steering wheel cover.

- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Remove the steering wheel wiring harness.

- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the steering wheel switch.
INSTALLATION
1.
- Install the steering wheel switch.
- Install the 3 bolts.
Torque: 1.5Nm
2.
- Connect the 3 electrical connectors to the steering wheel switches.
- Install the steering wheel wiring harness.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 1.7Nm
3.
- Install the steering wheel cover.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 1.6Nm
4.
- Reposition the steering wheel wiring harness into the correct location.
- Install and tighten the steering wheel wiring harness bolt.
Torque: 1.7Nm
- Connect the electrical connector to the steering wheel switch.
5.
- Install the horn switch.
- Install and tighten the 3 horn switch bolts.
Torque: 6.5Nm
- Connect the electrical connector to the horn switch.
6. Install the driver airbag module.
7. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
