Land Rover Defender: Inflatable Waterproof Awning

INFLATABLE WATERPROOF AWNING - PART NUMBER: VPLEP0432

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

WARNING: Accessories which are not correctly installed can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to installation. Comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.

NOTE: This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the bag containing the inflatable waterproof awning kit from the vehicle loadspace.

2.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Unzip the bag.

3.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Remove the contents as shown in the kit image. Inflatable waterproof awning (A), hand pump (B), suction pads and straps (C), and pegs (D).

4.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Fold out the inflatable waterproof awning, unravelling the black inflatable part.

INSTALLATION

1.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Connect the hose to the 'Inflate' side of the hand pump (B).

2.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Remove the inflatable waterproof awning valve cap, unscrewing the top part.

3.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Connect the hand pump hose (B) to the inflatable waterproof awning valve. Pump up the inflatable waterproof awning until firm.

4. When inflated, remove the hose and then screw the inflatable waterproof awning valve cap back on.

5.

CAUTION: If the vehicle has a ribbed fixed metal roof then complete install step 6.

Attach the suction pads to the vehicle roof, placing approximately one meter apart. This can be done over the rear side door or the rear tailgate depending on preference.

NOTE: Complete step for vehicles with a ribbed fixed metal roof.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

If the vehicle has a ribbed fixed metal roof then the suction pads should be placed as illustrated.

  1. If installing the inflatable waterproof awning to the side of the vehicle then the suction pads must be installed to the opposite side of the vehicle.
  2. If installing the inflatable waterproof awning to the rear of the vehicle then the suction pads must be installed to both sides of the vehicle.

7.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

For vehicles equipped with the expedition roof rack, detach the straps from the suction pads and loop around the roof rack legs as illustrated.

8.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Make sure the inflatable part is furthest away from the vehicle, lift up the inflatable waterproof awning, find the two rear clips and clip to the suction pad straps. Adjust the straps as required.

9.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

A minimum distance of 100 mm is recommended between the inflatable waterproof awning and the side of the vehicle body.

10.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Pull out the inflatable waterproof awning so the connection strap is pulled tight.

11.

NOTE: The second pair of front ropes are optional.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Use the pegs (D) to secure the inflatable waterproof awning to the ground. Insert the pegs through the anchor points as illustrated.

12.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

If the inflatable waterproof awning is installed to the rear of the vehicle then use the extra side panels to cover the gap. Keep the extra side panels folded away using the tie straps if installed to the side of the vehicle.

13.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

Both the side doors can be unzipped and folded away. The side doors can be tied up with the tie straps when not in use.

14.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

During removal the suction pads should be released by pulling on the tab as illustrated, when the lever has been released.

15.

Inflatable Waterproof Awning

To deflate the inflatable waterproof awning unscrew the valve as illustrated. Make sure all the air is pressed out of the inflatable waterproof awning before folding away.
