Land Rover Defender: Front Left Fender

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding paintwork.

NOTE:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

2. Remove the front fender moulding.

3. Remove the front wheel arch liner.

4. Remove the front bumper.

5. Remove the front fender trim panel.

• Remove the 5 clips.
• Remove the access cover.

7.

• Remove the 3 bolts.
• Remove the bracket.

8.

• Remove the 3 bolts.

9.

Remove the bolt.

10.

Remove the 2 bolts.

11.

• Remove the bolt.
• Reposition the front air intake duct to get access to the center air intake duct.
• Remove the center air intake duct.

12.

• Release the 2 clips.
• Remove the rear air intake duct.

13.

• Remove the 2 nuts.
• Remove the front left fender.

INSTALLATION

1.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

• Install the front fender.
• Install the 3 bolts.

2.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

Install the 2 bolts.

3.

NOTE: Only tighten the nuts finger tight at this stage.

Install the 2 nuts.

4.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.

Install the bolt.

5.

Align the fender gaps to the surrounding body panels as illustrated.

6.

• Tighten the 3 upper bolts.

  Torque: 10Nm

7.

• Tighten the 2 lower bolts.

  Torque: 10Nm

8.

• Tighten the 2 rear nuts.

  Torque: 10Nm

9.

• Tighten the front bolt.

  Torque: 10Nm

10.

• Install the 2 clips.
• Install the rear air intake duct.

11.

• Install the center air intake duct.
• Reposition the front air intake duct into the correct location.
• Install and tighten the bolt.

  Torque: 5Nm

12.

• Install the bracket.
• Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

  Torque: 6Nm

13.

• Install the 5 clips.
• Install the access cover.

14. Install the front fender trim panel.

15. Install the front bumper.

16. Install the front wheel arch liner.

17. Install the front fender moulding.
