GENERAL EQUIPMENT

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping engine coolant.

CAUTION:

• Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
• Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
• Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

1. Always follow the Petrol and Petrol-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions, before any repairs are done to the fuel system.

2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

3. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

4. Remove the hood.

5. Remove the transmission.

6. Remove the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.

7. Remove the secondary bulkhead center panel.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Release the wiring harness clip.

9.

Disconnect the engine coolant hose.

10.

Disconnect the 2 engine coolant hoses.

11.

Disconnect the 2 engine coolant hoses.

12.

• Disconnect the Low Pressure (LP) fuel line.
• Disconnect the breather pipe.

13.

• Remove the 2 bolts.
• Remove the closing panel.

14.

• Release the bolt.
• Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
• Release the wiring harness clip.
• Release the wiring harness grommet.

15.

• Install the special tool.

  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1633-01

• Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

  Torque: 25Nm

16.

Remove and discard the nut.

17.

Remove and discard the nut.

18.

WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

• Install the special tool.

  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1633-01

• Use the special tool and a suitable hydraulic jib crane to carefully remove the engine.

  General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane

19.

• Remove the 4 bolts.
• Remove the bracket.

20.

• Install the special tool.

  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1673

• Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

  Torque: 40Nm

21.

• Install the engine assembly onto a suitable engine stand.

  General Equipment: Engine stand

• Remove the hydraulic jib crane.

  General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane

• Remove the special tool.
