REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

WARNING:

• To prevent accidental deployment, you must power down the Restraints Control Module (RCM). Wait at least 1 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable before you do any work on the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS). If you do not follow these instructions, it can cause injury or death.
• Take extra care when handling SRS components.
• To minimize the possibility of premature deployment, do not use radio key code savers when working on the SRS. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
• Do not connect any electrical test device or equipment to the SRS connectors.
• Always wear safety glasses when working on an airbag equipped vehicle and when handling an airbag.

  Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

NOTE:

• Note the orientation of the components.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.

1. Before handling any components within the SRS, make sure that the safety guidelines are followed.

2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

3. Remove the rear quarter trim panel.

4. Remove the C-pillar trim panel.

5. Remove the rear junction box.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

7.

NOTE: Note the position of the component prior to removal.

• Remove the seatbelt upper anchor bolt.
• Remove the seatbelt retractor bolt.
• Remove the second row seatbelt retractor and belt assembly.

INSTALLATION

1.

CAUTION: Make sure that the component is correctly located.

• Install the second row seatbelt retractor and belt assembly.
• Install and tighten the new seatbelt retractor bolt.

  Renew Part: Seatbelt retractor bolt Quantity: 1.

  Torque: 40Nm

• Connect the electrical connector.

• Install and tighten the seatbelt upper anchor bolt.

  Torque: 40Nm

3. Install the rear junction box.

4. Install the C-pillar trim panel.

5. Install the rear quarter trim panel.

6. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
