Land Rover Defender: Hood Latch

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

NOTES:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

1.

• Remove the 4 upper fasteners.
• Release the 4 lower clips.
• Remove the radiator grille.

2.

NOTE: Do this step on both sides.

• Remove the fastener.
• Remove the upper air deflector.

3.

• Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
• Remove the 2 clips.
• Remove the 2 bolts.
• Remove the 2 horns.

4.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Remove the 4 clips.
• Remove the 4 bolts.
• Remove the active vanes.

5.

• Release the cable from the clip.
• Remove the 2 bolts.
• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Reposition the hood latch away from the hood latch panel.

6.

NOTE: Right side hood latch.

• Remove the 2 cable clips from the hood latch.
• Remove the hood latch.

7.

NOTE: Left side hood latch.

• Remove the 3 cable clips from the hood latch.
• Remove the hood latch.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the cables to the hood latch.

2.

• Connect the electrical connector to the hood latch.
• Install and tighten the 2 hood latch bolts.

  Torque: 10Nm

• Install the cable to the clip.

3.

• Install the active vanes.
• Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

  Torque: 5Nm

• Install the 4 clips.
• Connect the electrical connector.

4.

• Install the 2 horns.
• Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

  Torque: 7Nm

• Install the 2 clips.
• Connect the 2 electrical connectors.

5.

NOTE: Do this step on both sides.

• Install the upper air deflector.
• Install the fastener.

6.

• Install the radiator grille.
• Secure the 4 lower clips.
• Install the 4 upper fasteners.
