Land Rover Defender: Electric Booster Heater - Left Hand Drive
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTES:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel lower trim.
3. Remove the glovebox.

CAUTION:
Take extra care not to damage the component.

- Remove the 2 screws.
- Release the trim panel at the 2 clips.

- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the 2 switches.
- Remove the trim panel.

- Remove the 4 screws.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the Integrated Control Panel (ICP).
- Remove the ICP.
7. Remove the floor console.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the Transmission Control Switch
(TCS).
- Remove the TCS.

- Release the stop/start switch wiring harness from the clip.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the TCS bracket.

- Remove the 4 screws.
- Release and position the center trim to one side.

- Disconnect the electrical connector from the air duct temperature
sensor.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the screw.
- Remove the front right footwell air duct.

Position the floor carpet to one side.

- Release the 2 electrical connectors from the climate control assembly.
- Remove the 3 screws.
- Remove the heater core retainer.

CAUTION:
Take extra care not to damage the component.

Remove the electric booster heater.
INSTALLATION
1.
CAUTION:
Take extra care not to damage the component.
- Install the electric booster heater.
- Install the heater core retainer to the climate control assembly.
- Install and tighten the 3 screws.
Torque: 1.2Nm
- Install the 2 electrical connectors to the climate control assembly.
2. Reposition the floor carpet to the original position.
3.
- Install the front right footwell air duct.
- Install and tighten the screw.
Torque: 1.2Nm
- Install the clip.
- Connect the electrical connector to the air duct temperature sensor.
4.
- Reposition the center trim to the instrument panel cross-car beam.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
5.
- Install the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) bracket.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
Torque: 1.2Nm
- Install the stop/start switch wiring harness to the clip.
6.
- Connect the electrical connector to the TCS.
- Install the TCS.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 3.2Nm
7. Install the floor console.
8.
- Connect the electrical connector to the Integrated Control Panel (ICP).
- Install the ICP.
- Install and tighten the 4 screws.
Torque: 1.7Nm
9.
- Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the 2 switches.
- Install the trim panel at the 2 clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 screws.
Torque: 0.6Nm
10. Install the glovebox.
11. Install the instrument panel lower trim.
12. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
