Land Rover Defender: Hood Switch
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.

- Release the 2 screws.
- Release the 6 clips.
- Remove the upper radiator grille panel.

NOTE:
Mark the installed position of the latch before loosening the bolts.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disconnect the hood switch electrical connector.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the right hood latch.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE:
Align the marks made during the removal procedure.
- Install the right hood latch.
- Install the 2 hood release cable clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 hood latch bolts.
Torque: 10Nm
2.
- Install the upper radiator grille panel.
- Install the 6 clips.
- Install and tighten the 2 screws.
Torque: 5Nm

WARNINGS:
To avoid accidental deployment, the Restraints Control Module (RCM)
backup power supply must be
depleted. Wait at least 2 minutes after disconnecting the startup battery
ground cable(s) before doing any
repair or adjustment to the Supplementary Rest
