Land Rover Defender: Front Row Seat Recliner Motor

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

NOTE:

• This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
• This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

1. Remove the lumbar assembly.

2. Remove the front row seat cushion cover.

3.

• Remove the 3 bolts.
• Remove the side trim panel bracket.

4.

• Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
• Release the 5 wiring harness clips.

5.

• Remove the 3 screws.
• Remove the front seat backrest blower motor.

6.

Release the 4 wiring harness clips.

7.

Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

8.

• Lift the cover to get access to the screw.
• Remove the screw.
• Remove the Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) docking station.

9.

• Use a suitable tool to release the 4 clips.
• Remove the 2 head restraint support brackets.

10.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

• Release the 4 clips.
• Remove the lumbar support.

11.

• Remove and discard the 4 bolts.
• Remove the front row seat recliner motor.

INSTALLATION

1.

• Install the front row seat recliner motor.
• Install and tighten the 4 new bolts.

  Renew Part: Front seat frame bolt(s) Quantity: 4.

  Torque: 50Nm

2.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

• Install the lumbar support.
• Secure the 4 clips.

3. Install the 2 head restraint support brackets.

4.

• Install the RSE docking station.
• Install and tighten the screw.

5. Install the 2 wiring harness clips.

6. Install the 4 wiring harness clips.

7.

• Install the front row seat backrest blower motor.
• Install and tighten the 3 screws.

8.

• Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
• Install the 5 wiring harness clips.

9.

• Install the side trim panel bracket.
• Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

10. Install the front row driver seat cushion cover.

11. Install the lumbar assembly.
