Land Rover Defender: Folding fabric roof reset

Make sure that the conditions listed below are met before carrying out the folding fabric sunroof reset procedure:

The folding fabric sunroof needs to be reset if the battery is disconnected.

Disconnection includes the battery becoming discharged, or an interruption to the power supply while the folding fabric sunroof is being operated.

Once the power supply is restored, reset the folding fabric sunroof as follows:

1. Switch the ignition on.

2. Use the switch to close the folding fabric sunroof to the fully closed position. Release the switch.

Vehicles with a folding fabric sunroof do not have an anti-trap system. Make sure that no occupants have any body parts in a position where they could become trapped. Serious injury or death could occur.

3. Fully press and hold the front of the folding fabric sunroof switch for 10 seconds to start the reset cycle.

Continue to hold the front of the folding fabric sunroof switch until the folding fabric sunroof moves forwards and backwards a small amount.

The folding fabric sunroof can now be operated as normal.

PANORAMIC ROOF BLIND RESET

The roof blind needs to be reset if the battery is disconnected, becomes discharged, or the power supply is interrupted. The reset procedure is as follows:

1. Start the engine.

2. With the roof blind in the closed position, press and hold the roof blind switch for approximately 30 seconds, until an audible double click sounds.

3. Release the switch. Within 3 seconds, press and hold the roof blind switch again. Hold until the blind completes a full open and close cycle.

4. Once the blind has stopped moving, release the switch. The blind can now be operated as normal.

PANORAMIC ROOF RESET

If the battery is disconnected or the power supply is interrupted while the panoramic roof is partially open, it may need to be recalibrated.

Once the battery is reconnected or the power supply is restored, recalibrate the panoramic roof as follows:

1. Switch the engine on.

2. With the roof and blind closed, press the front of the roof switch and hold for 20 seconds.

3. After 20 seconds, the panoramic roof begins to move. Release the switch.

Within 5 seconds, press and hold the front of the roof switch until the blind and roof complete a full open and close cycle.

Note: The blind opens first and closes last.

4. Once the blind has stopped moving, release the switch.

The panoramic roof can now be operated as normal.

WINDOW RESET

The windows need to be reset if the battery is disconnected, becomes discharged, or the power supply is interrupted.

Reset as follows:

1. Close the window fully.

2. Release the switch. Lift the switch to the close position and hold for 1 second.

3. Repeat the procedure on each window.

Note: Make sure that a minimum of 12V is available at all times. It is recommended to have the engine running while resetting the windows.
