Land Rover Defender: Canvas Roof Motor
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
WARNINGS:
- Both motors must be replaced at the same time due to software
compatibility.
- Make sure the ignition is OFF before carrying out this procedure.
CAUTIONS:
- Do not remove the windshield.
- Take extra care not to damage any components on removal.
NOTES:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending
on the vehicle specification, but the
essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
1. Open the canvas roof in comfort position.

NOTE:
Release and lower the headliner to gain access for canvas roof removal.
Lower the headliner.
3.
CAUTION:
Do not remove the right canvas roof motor until the left canvas roof motor has
been installed.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 left canvas roof motor bolts and remove the left canvas
roof motor.
- Install the new left canvas roof motor.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 4Nm
- Connect the electrical connector.

CAUTION:
Do not remove the left canvas roof motor until the right canvas roof motor has
been installed.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 right canvas roof motor bolts and remove the right canvas
roof motor.
- Install the new right canvas roof motor.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 4Nm
- Connect the electrical connector.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the headliner.
2.
- Initialization and teaching the canvas roof motors:
- Close the roof and push the button during 10 seconds after full closing.
- After initialization, open the roof in full open position and close the
roof by pressing and holding down
the button until the full closure.
